Since 1870 Five Generations of Winemakers in Moasca
The LA MUDA FARMHOUSE company is located in Moasca, 20 kilometers south of Asti, in the Monferrato Astigiano or Alto Monferrato.
Since 1870 Giuseppe and then his son Ernesto, the true founder of the company, until the current generation, the fifth, have cultivated the family lands and in particular the vineyards.
Ernesto is a man who dreams big: in 1913 he requests a passport for North America where he would like to go but unfortunately shortly after he will be called up to arms for the First World War. He will be marked by this terrible experience: after having served in the Alpine Corps in Cuneo he was recalled when the First World War broke out. He takes part in war operations at the front and is wounded. Awarded the honorable valor for his war wounds, he was assigned to the motorized department where he remained until the end of the great war.
He will receive the War Merit Cross and the nomination as Knight of Vittorio Veneto.
At the end of the war, in 1918, he returned to the family business, he was 29 years old and had big plans: he visited North America where he would like to invest in agricultural land, but he decided to return to Moasca and set up his own company.
The company today has approximately 20 hectares of which four are vineyards, four hazelnut groves and the rest fields and meadows.
